Grand Traverse Hiking Club Chapter: Cedar Run Creek Evening Hike
Join the Grand Traverse Hiking Club Chapter of the North Country Trail Association for a 4.5 mile loop hike around the beautiful and ecologically important Cedar Run Creek Natural Area, a 316-acre property located west of Traverse City and northwest of Long Lake.
We’ll aim to cover the entire trail system, hiking through cedar-hemlock forest along the creek, rolling fields, a large stretch of northern hardwood forest and a pine plantation! The trail is mostly smooth and dry with a few lightly muddy spots and gentle hills.
Plan on hiking 4.5 miles at about 2.5 mph pace. There is a shorter loop of 2 miles for those who wish a slower pace, if we can find a volunteer to lead this option.
Bring good hiking shoes, rain gear if weather threatens, water and a snack (if desired). Ticks and poison ivy shouldn’t present any problem if we stay on the trail. A port-a-jon is available at the trailhead. Check back with the NCTA Events Calendar for potential cancellation.
