The NCTA Itasca Moraine Chapter is excited to host a day for outdoors enthusiasts, experienced and brand new alike, to join us in celebrating National Trails Day here on the Chippewa National Forest.

Come join us by hiking the winding trails at Shingobee Hills Recreation Area. This area features 6 miles of wide trails, a beautiful view of the Shingobee River Valley and a historic ski chalet. Shingobee is also home to a section of the North Country Trail. Come hike one mile of a 4,800-mile trail that runs from North Dakota to Vermont. We will have local experts on the NCT (Itasca Moraine, Star of the North, and Arrowhead Chapters) and Chippewa trails to talk with.

The Chippewa will be hosting guided nature hikes and an orienteering course. It’s rumored Smokey Bear will be attending. More information: Call 218-547-1044.

Shingobee is located approximately 5 miles east of Akeley and 6 miles west of Walker, Minn. Look for brown highway signs indicating the Shingobee Recreation Area.
