This event has been postponed due to weather. No future dates have been set at this time, but please stay tuned. Reschedule is possible for September 2022.

Join the NCTA Kekekabic Trail Chapter to clear brush and downed trees on the historic Kekekabic Trail in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), primarily from Thomas Pond to the Strup Lake Portage.

The crew will paddle into Thomas Pond or Hatchet Lake on May 10 to set up camp. From there, the crew will day hike, and possibly paddle, from camp to areas that need to be cleared between Thomas Pond and Strup Lake Portage. The full-day paddle to camp involves 12 portages, and the daily hikes from camp may be up to 10 miles per day.

The work will be done with hand tools, such as small saws and loppers. Tools and meals while on the Trail will be provided by the trip leader. Crew members will provide their own backpacking equipment. Crew members will meet in Ely the evening before the trip (May 9) and will stay in the bunkhouses at Northern Tier High Adventure.

This trip has a limited attendance of nine volunteers and has a cost of $60 per volunteer to cover on-trail meals and miscellaneous expenses.
