The Marquette Area Chapter of the North Country Trail is holding a family-friendly Earth Day event on Monday, April 22 at the Welcome Center on US-41 south of Marquette at 5:00 PM.

Ecologist Ceirighen Gill will give a presentation on ways we can care for the Earth. An opportunity to create chalk art on the paved path will follow the presentation.

For those who want to extend their time, we’ll hike along the NCT until we join the Chocolay Bayou Nature Trail, which is a nature preserve provided by the Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy. Hikers can spend time enjoying the interpretive features on the trail loops.

The entire hike is less than 2 miles, making this a family-friendly hike for people of all ages.
