Group Birding Hike
The Marquette Area Chapter of the North Country Trail invites you on a birding hike in the Wetmore/Harlow Lake area on Saturday, April 27 at 9:00 AM. Our hike leaders are Jeff Towner and Matt Betts from the Laughing Whitefish Bird Alliance and the MI Birds program. We’ll be branching off the North Country Trail for an out-and-back hike over the top of Bareback Ridge to Harlow Lake with several stops to look for birds.
The round-trip hike will take about 3 hours and the total mileage will be determined by how frequently we stop. We will hike up to 4 miles, turning around to keep the hike within a 3-hour period. The hike involves steep slopes and some rock scrambling. You may wish to use trekking poles. Bring binoculars if you have them and don’t forget water and a snack.
We will meet across from the Wetmore Landing parking lot on the west side of CR 550 on Saturday, April 27 at 9:00 AM.
This event is limited to 20 participants and advance registration is required. Please click this link to register. We will accept registrations until Thursday, April 25 or until the hiker limit has been met.
