Our neighboring Peter Wolfe Chapter recently rerouted their trail, eliminating almost 14 miles of NCT roadwalk on US 41! This resulted in a slight reroute of our trail and a new meeting point between our two chapters.

Join us on a hike to celebrate the new junction between the Marquette Area Chapter and Peter Wolfe Chapter. We will celebrate by hiking with members of the Peter Wolfe Chapter from Craig Lake State Park to the new intersection near Long Lake for a picnic and ribbon cutting.

We will meet on Wednesday, June 19 at 10:00am at the MDOT Park and Ride Carpool Lot in Ishpeming. Our board member, Ceirighen Gill, will organize the group when we meet.

From there, we’ll caravan together to the Craig Lake State Park parking area. (We plan to carpool because parking is limited at the trailhead in CLSP.) It will take about 50 minutes to reach the parking lot, where we’ll meet up with hikers from the Peter Wolfe chapter.

Our hike will take us west about 2.75 miles to the new terminus with recently installed signs from both MAC and PWC at the junction. We’ll celebrate with a ribbon cutting and lunch by the shores of Long Lake.

The total hike will be about 5.5 miles.

Bring plenty of water, lunch and/or a snack, bug spray (consider a head net), and trekking poles if you use them.

NOTE: This hike is limited to 20 people. Please contact mac@northcountrytrail.org to sign up.
