National Trails Day, NORTA Hike
Join the Northwestern Ohio Rails-to-Trails Association (NORTA) for a National Trails Day hike on the North Country National Scenic Trail on June 4 at 9:00 a.m.
National Trails Day is a celebration of trails held annually on the first Saturday of June. This year, we will celebrate with a roughly four-mile hike in the beautiful Oak Openings area, viewing several examples of restored oak savannas that give the Oak Openings region its name. Hopefully, we’ll be there during peak bloom time!
Meet on Old Wilkins Road just off OH-64 in the south part of Oak Openings Metropark. We will hike about two miles in to the park to see some of the best natural scenery the area has to offer, then hike back. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and hike-appropriate footwear, and bring water and snacks.
