National Trails Day, Spirit of the Woods Chapter
Please join the NCTA Spirit of the Woods Chapter for a special event: On June 3, National Trails Day, we will meet to have our Annual Meeting and election of officers, a potluck, and a hike afterwards.
Our event will take place at the Evergreen Church, south of Branch, Mich. with a potluck. The church is close to some trailheads and Monica Hatch will lead the hike. We will announce the trailhead and approximate time in our next newsletter.
We are announcing the election of officers at 10:00 a.m. We encourage everyone (Chapter member or non-member) to attend the meeting and potluck. Any Spirit of the Woods member can vote at the meeting. If you can’t attend the meeting and would like to vote, please email Loren Bach at spw@northcountrytrail.org.
Most of the current board members have agreed to stay on for another two-year term. These board members that are in elected positions are:
- Loren Bach, Chapter President
- Pete Bennett, Vice President
- Michael Wheeler, Vice President (Michael would like to drop off the board at this time)
- Andrea Mack, Treasurer
- Stacy Hames, Secretary
Other nominations for these positions would be welcome, and any of the positions could use a trainee for election to the board position in the future. We need to plan for succession to continue to be a healthy organization. We would welcome other people to volunteer for board positions, trainees or special projects. Our non-elected (e.g. appointed) positions are:
- Trail Coordinator, Iain Hatting
- Hikes Coordinator, Monica Hatch
- Trail Angel Coordinator, Peg Gramas
They are willing to stay on although at some point would like to be succeeded.
Please contact Loren at spw@northcountrytrail.org or 231-510-1983 for more information about the positions or other questions.
The meeting followed by the potluck will be in the Fellowship Hall at 10:00 a.m. For the potluck we have use of the kitchen, but not the oven. We would ask that you bring a food for potluck to share. The Chapter will provide the paper products, utensils, lemonade, and water.
