National Trails Day, Wampum Chapter
The NCTA Wampum Chapter will be at the 2023 Darlington Days celebration on June 3 and 4, carving hiking sticks and sharing information about the North Country National Scenic Trail with visitors. We are in need of volunteers to cover our information tables and hiking stick rigs, and folks to drop by during the event to visit with us.
The event is scheduled to run from 9 to 5 both Saturday and Sunday so if you can help for the weekend, either day, or for just a few hours please let us know: wam@northcountrytrail.org.
On Sunday, June 4, we’ll hike approximately 3 miles. Easy to moderate hiking with hills. Park behind the First United Presbyterian Church. We’ll start the day at the Darlington trailhead and follow the lovely Little Beaver Creek, then go uphill to the Seceder Cemetery and turn around at the Route 51 bridge crossing where we can view the traffic below us. Then return down hill to town in time for festivities which include multiple food and shopping vendors and activities (Wampum Chapter’s hiking stick carving included). Be a part of the fun! Sturdy footwear is recommended. Bring your own personal beverage and/or snack if you wish.
