National Public Lands Day Hike: Alpha Pass to McConnells Mill
Join the NCTA Wampum Chapter for a beautiful waterfall hike on National Public Lands Day! We’ll hike a loop up Slippery Rock Creek from the Mill cross the covered bridge and hike to Eckert Bridge via the North Country Trail. Once on Eckert, we will cross take the Breakneck Falls trail. We will take a break at the falls before returning on the Kildoo Trail back to Alpha Pass This will be a casual paced hike giving opportunity for pictures.
Meet at 9:00 AM at the Point parking area of McConnells Mill State Park. McConnells Mill Road on the right (just past the intersection with Johnson Rd. Portersville, Pa 16051). We will start at the Alpha Pass Trailhead off of 422. We will hike to the McConnells Mill, then Eckert bridge and back (about 5 miles). Difficulty is rated moderate, terrain is rocky and sometimes wet. Sturdy footwear is recommended. Bring your own personal beverage and/or snack if you wish.
There are likely to be activities and food vendors around the mill related to the Heritage Festival that you can participate in.
