Allegheny National Forest Chapter: June Trail Work Weekend – Saturday
Join the Allegheny National Forest Chapter Saturday, June 3rd , Sunday, June 4th or both as we prepare for the Allegheny-100 Hiking Challenge.
For both days, meet no later than 10AM.
If you are interested in camping on Sat evening, we suggest Minister Creek Forest Service campground, Kellettville campground or Amsler Spring shelter.
Both days of this weekend, we’ll be working on clearing and brushing to prepare for the A-100, along with a few small projects.
Saturday, June 3rd is National Trails Day and the national theme is “Leave It Better Than You Found It”. To volunteer on Saturday, meet at the Henrys Mills Trailhead. It’s located on Rt 666 at N 41°38.158’ W 079° 02.569’ about 3.5 miles south of Rt 948 on the SE side of the bridge over the Tionesta Creek.
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, and bring your own water, food, and work gloves. All tools are provided and no special skills are needed. We encourage people new to trail work to come out and give back to the trail. There will be a job for you and a person to teach you what to do. Remember that “many hands make light work”. Hope to see you there!
