Join the Allegheny National Forest Chapter for an interpretive hike on tree identification. Linda White, retired Forest Service Recreation Planner, will lead a hike teaching how to identify common trees in the ANF.

Our meeting time is 10 AM, Sunday, June 23 at the Rt 948 Cherry Run Trailhead. The Trailhead is located about 3 miles SE of the intersection of Rt 666 and Rt 948. Look for the sign to tell you to turn off of Rt 948 to get to the NCT trailhead, GPS coordinates are N 41° 38.069’ W 078° 59.861’ (41.634472, -78.997694). You can also follow this link to the spot on the NCTA interactive map or on Google Maps.

We will do an out-and-back hike south on the NCT toward Henrys Mill. It is about 3.6 miles to go to FR 413 and back or about 7.4 miles to go to Henrys Mill and return. The length of the hike can be adjusted based on the desires of the participants and the number of trees discussed.

Please come prepared for the hike dressed in appropriate layers for the weather, and carrying your own food and water.
