Allegheny National Forest Chapter: Interpretive Hike – Foraging for Mushrooms
Join our Allegheny National Forest Chapter for a special summer hike! This hike will be an Interpretive Hike with an expert that can teach us about mushrooms and how to forage for them.
Our meeting time is 10 AM at the Minister Rd Trailhead, located on Minister Rd about 1.5 miles south of SR 2002 (Heart’s Content Rd) or 2.5 miles north of Rt 666, GPS coordinates N 41°39.320’ W 079° 09.080’.
We will do an out-and-back hike northeast on the NCT. It is about 3.5 miles to go to the rock city past the Lower Sheriff or 9 miles to get all the way to the Hunter Station Shelter. The length of the hike can be adjusted based on the desires of the participants and the time spent on learning about mushrooms.
Please come prepared for the hike dressed in weather-appropriate clothing, and carrying your own food and water. Friendly dogs are welcome. We hope to see you down the trail!
