Come celebrate National Public Lands Day! Boy, do we have a fun day planned. The day will start with canoeing on Upper St. Croix Lake starting at 10:00 a.m. We will launch the canoes from Palmer’s Landing. The canoes are provided on Canoes on Wheels.

Following canoeing, there will be a potluck picnic. Please bring a dish to share and a serving utensil. The NCTA Brule-St. Croix Chapter will provide plates, utensils, napkins, etc.

As lunch wraps up, some information about the portage trail history will be provided. Then we will be led on an Interpretive hike with Mel and Tom, who will provide information about the forest in the Brule Bog as well as along the portage trail. We will hike about 2.5 to 3 miles. This is a shared hike with the NCTA Brule-St. Croix and Chequamegon Chapters.

We will meet at Palmer’s Landing near the water source/artesian well, just down the road from the St. Croix Lake Trailhead. The Latitude and Longitude for the St. Croix Lake Trailhead are: Latitude is 46.379591, Longitude is -91.777290. Just northwest of the Village of Solon Springs, Wisconsin, off of County Road A.
