Chequamegon Chapter Workday
Join the NCTA Chequamegon Chapter for a workday on August 19 in the Rainbow Lake Wilderness. We will assemble at the Reynard Lake Road trailhead at 9:00 a.m. (CT). The trailhead is about a mile west of the intersection with Delta Drummond Road. (See map.)
This workday will involve finishing the tread on two reroutes that we started last year and the prior year, plus maintenance on Anderson Grade from the NCNST westward toward Anderson Lake. Reroutes are located approximately 1.5 miles northwest of the Reynard Lake Road trailhead in the vicinity of mile marker 117 on the WI-018 Avenza map. Treadwork will require use of mattocks, Pulaskis and McLeods. Trail maintenance will involve using hand saws, rakes, and loppers. There’s a job for everyone’s level of skill and energy.
The Chapter will provide some tools, but you are welcome to bring your own: lopper, hand saw, small rake, mattock, Pulaski, or McLeod. Dress for the weather and pack lunch, water, insect repellent, and work gloves. No power tools may be used in the Wilderness.
Mel Baughman, our Chapter VP and NCTA Board member, will lead this workday. Please RSVP directly to Mel if you can participate: baugh001@umn.edu. Your RSVP will help Mel plan the workday and gather up tools for the volunteers.
