Ed Setliff will lead the hike in Nelson Swamp along the NCNST/Link Trail – Chittenango Creek Loop. It is flat and easy terrain; we’ll hike about one mile. Our focus will be on the essential role fungi play in forest ecology. On a previous hike, we lucked upon a cluster of young scarlet red Mycena leaiana mushrooms, as well as a deadly poisonous, destroying angel mushroom.

Meet at 1:15 p.m. in the Nelson Swamp trailhead parking lot on Constine Bridge Road in Cazenovia. This is about a half-mile south of the intersection of Ballina Road and Stone Quarry Road (GPS coordinates: 42.890988, -75.825904).
