The NCTA Dakota Prairie Chapter‘s Self-Guided Hike, originally scheduled for the April 1-10 window, is postponed and rescheduled for April 13-25, due to some ice and mud still on the Trail. By then, the Trail will hopefully be nice and dry!

The loop trail at Ekre Grassland Preserve is the location for this 2.5-mile loop hike. You, your family, and friends can hike the loop at your convenience (maybe on Easter Sunday?) by following the signs and reading about the flora, fauna, and history of this area, as you enjoy the beauty and fresh air of the outdoors! Be sure to sign the Trail Register with your name and comments, and pick up a nature scavenger hunt sheet and pencil from the storage tub for a fun activity to do with your children and grandchildren as you hike!

Albert Ekre Grassland Preserve, from Fargo: Travel south on I-29 to the Kindred exit (Exit 48) and turn west. Drive by Kindred to State Highway 18, turn south, and drive five miles. The Ekre trailhead is immediately over the Sheyenne River bridge on your left (GPS coordinates: 46.554456, -97.137647).

Dates for the Chapter’s self-guided hikes are drafted on a yearly hiking schedule. Contact the Chapter with questions at dpc@northcountrytrail.org.
