Join the NCTA Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore Chapter for a nice hike in northern forests. Come and enjoy a stroll in the woods in the area of the Pine River.

Meet at the NCNST crossing of Lone Pine Road (FS-3141) just east of the Pine River Bridge between M-123 and Dick Road (3139). Lone Pine Road is a few miles north of Trout Lake and is marked with a small sign that has the numbers 3141. Dick Road is east of Trout Lake and runs north off H-40 to M-28 at the north end, east of Strongs Corners. (GPS coordinates: 46.252201, -84.935389).

Bring clothing appropriate for the weather conditions, water, camera, insect remediation products of your choice, and a friend or two! (Or come and make a few friends!)  Consider the 10 essentials of day hiking, too.

The length of the hike will vary depending on your abilities, motivation, and the conditions that day. The carpool / long hike option is 7.5 miles, as we will hike from Haywood School Road back to our vehicles. Other options include being dropped at the Pine River Campground for a four-mile return, or an out-and-back hike from where you are parked. After the hike we will gather at a nearby location for refueling and refreshment.

We will need to record your name and contact information before the hike. If you are sick or a family member is sick, please stay home. If you have been in contact with someone who develops Covid-19 around the time of the hike, please contact us at hss@northcountrytrail.org.

Please contact Tom Walker with questions at 906-322-2617. Cell phone service is spotty along the Trail so there may not be an answer the day of the event. This event is also on Facebook.
