Celebrate Michigan Trails Week and also North Country National Scenic Trail Day with our Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore Chapter by hiking the most popular trail in the park. The River Trail (NCT) parallels the Tahquamenon River between the Upper and Lower Falls.

Total hiking distance, up to 5 miles or more. This trail is considered challenging due to exposed roots, hills and potential mud.

Meet at the Lower Falls parking lot and we will finalize the hiking plans. Carpooling will be necessary to hike from the Upper Falls to the Lower Falls.

Bring: Water to take on the trail, sunscreen, insect repellant, proper footwear and clothing for the conditions, your camera, a whistle, a compass, a snack or lunch to have on the trail, and a small pack to carry it all, and a friend!

After the hike we will refuel and refresh at a local eatery.

A Michigan State Park Passport is required to enter the park and can be obtained at the entrance.

We will need to record your name and contact information before the hike.
If you have questions before the day of the hike, text Tom at 906-322-2617, or email hss@northcountrytrail.org

If you are sick or a family member is sick, please stay home. If you have had or have been in contact with someone who developed COVID-19 within 14 days before the hike, please stay home.

Cell phone service is spotty along the trail so there may not be an answer the day of the event.
