Ohio’s Burr Oak State Park & Buckeye Trail / NCT featured in Backpacker

Readers of the November 2010 issue of Backpacker magazine will notice on page 33 that Burr Oak State Park, OH and the Buckeye Trail / NCT is featured.  It made the list as #6 of their 20 favorite trips that they’ve never covered during 37 years of promoting trips across the U.S. and world.  Congrats to the Buckeye Trail Association and Ohio DNR-Burr Oak State Park on this much-needed recognition.  More info on this hike is available on the NCTA’s premier segments list or read about it on Backpacker’s website.

Readers will also notice the North Country Trail shows up on the U.S. map showing long hiking trails and destinations on pages 24-25.  Unfortunately, you’ll notice that the NCT and Ice Age Trail haven’t received much coverage in Backpacker compared to the Appalachian, Continental Divide, Pacific Crest, or Florida National Scenic Trails.  We’ll be working with Backpacker and other national outdoor magazines to try to enhance the coverage of the nation’s longest hiking trail to honor the work of all of our volunteers and partners!
