Naomikong March Hike
A march or a hike? A hike in March! How about a campfire at the end that you could cook your lunch on? Add to that a beautiful area to hike, anytime of the year plus Whitefish Bay views before it is all done!
Meet up with members of the Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore Chapter at the Naomikong Overlook parking lot. We will park south of the overlook, across the road, at the overflow parking lot. Look for the sign at the roadside. From there, we will carpool to the Salt Point Road crossing of the NCT and hike north 5 miles to the Naomikong Pond Shelter where we will have a campfire and lunch. Bring something to cook on the fire!
From the shelter to our cars is just over a third of a mile. If someone wanted to extend this hike, a couple more miles would bring you to The Shallows on Whitefish Bay after crossing the Naomikong River.
The Naomikong Overlook is found on the Curley Lewis Highway between Brimley and Paradise, on the south side of Whitefish Bay, north of Strongs, Michigan. Find the Naomikong Overlook via:

Weather could adjust our plans so be sure to be there for the pre-hike discussion. March weather is SO fickle!
Bring: Water, (maybe Skis or snowshoes?), camera, clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and the conditions, the 10 essentials, your lunch fixings, AND a FRIEND! If necessary, we can provide a friend if yours isn’t available.
Duration of event: approximately 5 hours
We will need to record your name and contact information before the hike.
Questions? Comments? Text Tom Walker at (906) 322-2617. Cell phone service is spotty in the area so there may not be an answer the day of the event.
All of these miles hiked will count towards the 2024 NCT Hike 100 Challenge! — You CAN do this!
