This past weekend, volunteers of the NCTA’s Itasca Moraine Chapter completed the Gage Lake boardwalk project south of the community of Lake George, MN.  This project involved building a 186′ boardwalk across an alder/black ash swamp west of where the NCT crosses the Schoolcraft River.

Bruce Johnson, ITM Board Member from Park Rapids, led the construction effort, which was actually the Chapter’s first substantial bridge/boardwalk project. I guess that is one benefit of building the NCT in a glacial moraine landscape with extensive public lands – there are not too many unavoidable water crossings.
