Chief Noonday Chapter: Don’t Get “TICK-ed”!
Planning your 2023 hiking adventures?!
Whether you have never encountered a tick on the trail (probably not the case), or you are hesitant to hike at all because of them, you won’t want to miss our February speaker, Dr. Jean Tsao!
Dr. Tsao, a researcher and associate professor at Michigan State University, will be sharing just about everything you need to know concerning ticks! Including when and where to hike, and other means of avoiding ticks, while also educating us on how to identify ticks, treat to prevent ticks, what to do when ticks are found, and when they attach. She continues to work to reduce human exposure to ticks through education as well as developing innovative methods to reduce tick and mosquito vector populations and will acquaint us with using the Tick App to participate in valuable field work. You will not want to miss her comprehensive presentation on ticks.
Dr. Jean Tsao has more than 20 years of experience studying the ecology of ticks and tick-borne pathogens, using a combination of field, laboratory, and modeling techniques. Click here to view Dr. Tsao’s bio: TsaoBioInfo
